Domestic handset maker Lava, which launched its first 5G handset earlier this month, has announced assured quarterly updates for the model and upgrade to Android version 13, the company's business head and president has announced.
"Blaze 5G will receive quarterly software updates for 2 years and assured upgrade to Android 13! #Lava #Blaze5G #ProudlyIndian," Sunil Raina, President and Business Head of Lava International posted in a tweet.
Lava Blaze 5G is the first 5G handset from the homegrown brand and it is currently on sale on e-commerce platform Amazon India. The device was unveiled by the handset maker a few weeks ago. Priced at Rs 10,999, the Lava Blaze 5G is claimed to be the cheapest-selling 5G smartphone. The Lava Blaze 5G competes with affordable 5G handsets such as Poco M4 5G, Redmi Note 11T 5G and Samsung Galaxy F23 5G. However, these models cost more than the Lava Blaze 5G.
The Lava Blaze 5G is being offered by Amazon India along with an instant discount of 10 per cent up to Rs 1,000 on the OneCard credit cards. Also, the e-commerce platform is offering a no-interest equated monthly instalment for Amazon Pay ICICI credit card users.
According to Lava, the company would provide "free service at home" service to the customer for a good after-sales experience. Customers can avail the service within the phone's warranty period.
Lava Blaze 5G specs and features
The Lava Blaze 5G smartphone is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset and features a 5,000 mAh battery. The handset sports a 6.5-inch HD+ IPS screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. It boots Android 12 operating system which will be updated to Android 13 with an anonymous call-recording feature built-in. In terms of camera, there is a 50MP triple-camera system on the back and an 8MP camera sensor on the front. The phone comes in 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage configuration.
The smartphone is Widevine L1 certified and comes in blue and green colour options, with a glass-back design.
