The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are no longer available for purchase in Switzerland, and reports suggest that Apple may soon halt sales of these models across the European Union (EU) as well. Both models are expected to be discontinued across 27 European Union countries. Unlike Apple's latest smartphone lineup, these devices feature a Lightning port, a design that has been replaced by the universally adopted USB Type-C port in newer models.

iPhone 14, iPhone SE (2022) To Be Discontinued In 27 EU Countries

The European Union's common charger regulations are set to take effect on December 28, and it seems Apple is gearing up to meet the requirements, according to a report from MacRumors. The publication revealed that Apple has already removed the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, and iPhone SE (2022) from its online store in Switzerland, although in-store sales are expected to continue until the deadline.

While Switzerland is not a member of the EU or the European Economic Area (EEA), it is part of the European single market, alongside countries like Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway. Consequently, Apple is likely to cease sales of these models in these regions and across the 27 EU member states.

After December 28, Apple will no longer officially sell the iPhone SE in the EU, although resellers may continue to offer remaining stock. However, customers might not have to wait long for a replacement. Reports indicate that Apple is developing a fourth-generation iPhone SE, which could feature a revamped design, Face ID, and possibly the company’s in-house modem chip.

In the meantime, EU consumers looking to buy an iPhone will need to opt for the iPhone 15 or the upcoming iPhone 16 series, both of which are equipped with USB Type-C ports, ensuring compliance with the new regulations. Apple has also proactively updated accessories like the AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) and AirPods Max with USB Type-C connectivity, well ahead of the approaching deadline.
