Google Is set to officially unveil its next-gen Pixel 8 series at its Made by Google event, in an annual refresh on October 4. The tech giant is likely to launch the Pixel Watch 2, alongside the Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8 at the event. Apart from hardware announcements, Google is also expected to reveal more about Android 14, including its rollout and features. A new leak says that the Pixel 8 lineup will see a price increase in the US. With the inclusion of in-house Tensor chipsets in the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro models, a huge portion of selling the Pixel flagships has been on value.

According to a report by 9to5Google, which quoted a retail source, the Pixel 8 will cost $699 while the Pixel 8 Pro will cost $999, which marks an increase of $100 across the board. An Android Authority report states that the Pixel 8 lineup will also see a significant price increase in Europe as well. As per leaked prices of Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8 in Europe, buyers will see an increase of more than 30 per cent on average in the price of a Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro, and European buyers would have to shell out an extra €200-€300 to buy one of the upcoming flagships from the house of Google, the report added.

However, this information should be taken with a pinch of salt. Google has traditionally kept up with a simple pricing pattern for its Pixel lineup. The price increase between different storage tiers is almost always a flat $100 or €100.

The Google Pixel 8 series will be launched on October 4. Google recently mentioned, in a video advertisement posted on X, formerly Twitter, that "big fall launches are stressful" but Pixel helps its friend stay cool as a cucumber. A Pixel device can be seen with a cucumber glued to its body along with a purported iPhone in the video ad. The Pixel 8 lineup may comprise a vanilla Pixel 8 and a pricier and better-specced Pixel 8 Pro.

Pixel 8 Series India Launch

Google has also confirmed the date for the launch of the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro in India. The company will refresh its Pixel line of devices with the Pixel 8 Pro and vanilla Pixel 8 that will succeed last year's Pixel 7 series. The Google Pixel 8 will become available in India a day after the official launch on October 4 at the "Made by Google" event. Similar to the Pixel 7 series, the Pixel 8 lineup will be available on e-commerce platform Flipkart in India, which has been the retail partner for Pixel devices in the country.

Google officially teased the launch of the Pixel 8 lineup in India on X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday. The pricing and sale details of the flagship Pixel line are still not available.
