Despite previous doubts about a new model in 2024, recent reports indicate that Apple is gearing up to launch a third-generation Apple Watch Ultra this fall. Famed Apple supply chain analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo had initially suggested that the likelihood of a refresh for the Apple Watch Ultra in 2024 was falling. However, Kuo has now said that the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is indeed in the pipeline, with only minimal hardware adjustments compared to the current model.

Kuo, in an update provided to MacRumors, stated that the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will feature "almost no" hardware enhancements compared to its predecessor, the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Although specific details about the upcoming model were not disclosed, it is anticipated to be unveiled in September.

Furthermore, MacRumors report further noted the potential launch of a third-generation Apple Watch SE this year, should Apple adhere to its biennial upgrade cycle. However, the trajectory of the successor to the Apple Watch Series 9 is less likely. News agency Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has previously mentioned a revamped "Apple Watch X" featuring a sleeker design and magnetic bands, though the timing of its release is ambiguous.

Gurman has also hinted that it could debut either in 2024 or 2025.

Regarding features, Gurman has previously suggested that the successor to the Apple Watch Series 9 could incorporate capabilities such as blood pressure monitoring and sleep apnea detection. These features are expected to be integrated into the Apple Watch Ultra 3 as well.

This September will be a decade since the original Apple Watch was revealed in 2014, followed by its launch in April 2015. With this significant milestone on the horizon, it is quite likely that Apple may have grander plans for its wearable device range, aart from the speculated Apple Watch X.

As the Apple Watch nears its 10th anniversary since its original release, multiple rumours suggest that Apple is diligently working on a significant overhaul, potentially named the "Apple Watch X." Bloomberg's Mark Gurman characterised this upcoming version as the most significant redesign on the smartwatch from Apple.
