With Google set to unveil the latest addition to its Pixel 8 series, the Pixel 8a smartphone, later this month, pre-launch leaks have revealed key features such as the Tensor G3 chip, a 120Hz display, a promise of seven years of Android updates and pricing details. The screenshots that have surfaced showcase the vibrant colours and matte texture of the Pixel 8a, consistent with leaked images portraying a matte finish on the black model and indicating similar finishes for the blue and green variants. To note, the Pixel 7a was launched with a glossy finish.


Famed tipster Evan Blass, also known as @evleaks, has revealed comprehensive product screenshots, providing further insight into the Pixel 8a. The images affirm the use of Gorilla Glass 3 for screen protection, mirroring the approach taken with the Pixel 7a.






Google asserts that the Pixel 8a represents its sturdiest A-Series launch to date, confirming IP67 water resistance, a feature shared with the 7a.

According to leaks and rumours, the Google Pixel 8a is expected to boast a 6.1-inch full-HD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak HDR brightness of 1,400 nits. This represents a notable enhancement over the Pixel 7a, which featured a 90Hz display.

According to a Smartprix report, the Pixel 8a's base 128GB variant might be priced at $499 (approximately Rs 41,641.55), with a 256GB model also available for $559 (approximately Rs 46,648.55). Interestingly, this rumoured pricing mirrors that of the Pixel 7a when it launched in the US. In India, the Pixel 8a is rumoured to be priced Rs 1,000-Rs 2,000 higher than the Pixel 7a.


Given that the Pixel 7a was priced at Rs 43,999, the Indian variant of the Pixel 8a might be around Rs 44,999 or Rs 45,999. Despite the potential higher cost in India, the company may introduce some introductory deals to make the deal sweeter.


Google Pixel 8a Launch Date


The Pixel 8a is anticipated to be formally unveiled at Google's I/O developer conference on May 14. It's rumoured to feature the Tensor G3 chipset, a 6.1-inch 90Hz OLED screen, a 4,500 mAh battery, a 64 MP main rear camera, a 13 MP ultrawide lens, and will run Android 14 right out of the box.

Regarding Pixel 8a colours and cases, the Smartprix report features official-looking marketing images, which have been shared by the trusted leakster OnLeaks.


The Pixel 8a is additonally shown in colours such as green, blue, and black (dark grey). Additionally, there's a collection of Pixel 8a cases posted by user @MysteryLupin, featuring cases for the aforementioned colours. It also displays the Pixel 8a body and a case in a whitish-grey hue.


Google is expected to include its Tensor G3 chip in the Pixel 8a, the same chip found in the more premium Pixel 8 models, allowing for advanced AI capabilities. However, it remains uncertain if the Pixel 8a will match the same level of compatibility as its pricier counterparts. The phone may feature a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smooth visuals. Like its predecessor, the Pixel 8a is anticipated to support both 5G and 4G LTE networks.


The upcoming Pixel 8a is rumored to sport a dual-camera system, consisting of a 64-megapixel primary camera and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera.
