New Delhi: Apple is likely to refresh its iPhone line and the Apple Watch series later this year, and the company has encountered accuracy challenges while testing a much-anticipated blood pressure detection feature. The Apple Watch 8 Series would not get the much-talked-about blood pressure monitoring feature and the technology is not likely to be ready until 2024, the media has reported.
Apple Inc.’s plan to add a highly anticipated blood-pressure monitor to its smartwatch has hit some snags and the technology isn’t expected to be ready until 2024 at the earliest, according to people with knowledge of the matter, according to a report by news agency Bloomberg. Earlier last year, a Nikkei report had suggested that blood pressure monitoring would arrive with the Apple Watch Series 7, but as correctly predicted by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, it did not happen. In fact, the Apple Watch Series 7 production hit roadblocks due to complex redesign.

The Cupertino, California-based tech giant has been working to introduce a feature that detects if a user has blood pressure via updated software and sensors. It has been planning to bring the feature for the past four years, but it is still two years away from becoming a reality, the Bloomberg report added. Bringing the blood pressure monitoring feature to its next-gen Apple Watch will give the iPhone maker an edge over its rivals in the smartwatches market. Currently, Samsung, its biggest rival offers blood pressure measurements, but it needs calibration with a dedicated blood pressure cuff.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, Apple started producing its flagship iPhone 13 in India. Last year's iPhone 13 is being manufactured at the iPhone maker's contract manufacturing partner Foxconn's plant near Chennai.
"We are excited to begin making iPhone 13 -- with its beautiful design, advanced camera systems for stunning photos and videos, and the incredible performance of the A15 Bionic chip -- right here in India for our local customers," Apple had told ABP Live.
