New Delhi: Seems like the 2022 iPhone SE is hard to sell but easy to manufacture, and that's why Apple is cutting the production of the iPhone SE in the wake of lesser than expected demand for the new iPhone SE. Due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis and inflation, the demand for 2022 iPhone SE and other smartphones has dwindled, the media has reported.

The iPhone maker plans to make about 20 per cent fewer iPhone SEs next quarter than originally planned, in one of the first signs that the Ukraine war and looming inflation have started to dent consumer electronics demand, said a report published in Nikkei Asia. It should be noted that the lower appetite for new smartphones and lower orders are indications of pressure on the tech industry.

The Cupertino, California-based tech giant has also asked suppliers to make a couple of million fewer units of the entire iPhone 13 range than previously estimated, but said this adjustment was based on seasonal demand, the Nikkei Asia report added.

Earlier this month, a report suggested that the newly launched Apple iPhone SE 2022 model's sales is likely to hit 30 million this year, compared to the 25 million predictions for the 2020 iPhone SE model, according to analysts. The shipment prediction is based on the 5G capabilities on the new iPhone SE that is expected to give a significant boost to Apple’s latest entry-level model, especially in regions outside China.

According to DigiTimes research analysts Sean Lin and Luke Lin, the tech giant has enough components for about five million iPhone SE 2022 models in the first quarter (Q1) of this year, but it claims that the shipments for the more affordable device are expected to be lower than in the first quarter. Monitoring data from Digitimes Research shows that the iPhone SE 2022, as well as new 5G mobile phones from Samsung Electronics and mainland Chinese brand manufacturers, are expected to significantly boost 5G mobile phone shipments in non-Chinese markets this year.

Earlier this month, Apple announced the third-gen iPhone SE (2022) at its Peek Performance event which is also its first event of 2022. The new iPhone SE (2022) features the Apple A15 Bionic SoC that is also featured in last year's iPhone 13 lineup and 5G connectivity. The prices of the new iPhone SE (2022) in India starts at Rs 43,900 for the base 64GB variant even as in the US, the cost of the new iPhone SE (2022) starts at $429 which is roughly Rs 33,000. In India, the 2022 iPhone SE's price starts at Rs 43,900.
