New Delhi: Apple late on Tuesday announced the third-gen iPhone SE (2022) at its Peek Performance event which is also its first event of 2022. The new iPhone SE (2022) features the Apple A15 Bionic SoC that is also featured in last year's iPhone 13 lineup and 5G connectivity.

Apart from the new processor, 5G support the new iPhone SE also has a slightly higher price tag of $429.

The design language of the iPhone SE has not changed much since its predecessor, but a new addition is the inclusion of 5G support which was available in the pricier iPhone 12 series and the iPhone 13 lineup. The iPhone SE (2022) also has the A15 Bionic chip which is the same processor included in the iPhone 13 series as well as the sixth-gen iPad tablet.

The addition of the A15 chip also means significant improvements to the cameras on the new iPhone SE, including features such as Smart HDR 4, Photographic Styles, and Deep Fusion. Despite the addition of 5G support, the tech giant claims that the new iPhone SE has better battery life. The new iPhone SE has been announced in three beautiful colours: starlight, midnight, and (PRODUCT)RED and will be available starting March 18 and pre-orders are beginning Friday, March 11.

The new iPhone SE (2022) is a follow up to the iPhone SE that was unveiled in 2020. The first iPhone SE was launched in 2016 and combined the body of an iPhone 5S with the internals of an iPhone 6. The phone cost $399 and was an unexpected hit for Apple. The model became popular among users who wanted a compact iPhone at an affordable price point.
