In just a few years’ time, the pandemic brought several years of transformation in all the sectors and domains that businesses operate in. In order to cope, organisations have accelerated the digitalisation of their processes, which in turn has enabled not only business continuity but also productivity. The temporary solutions that erupted in times of crisis have become the norm now, changing the way businesses function.

With technology as an enabler, the transformations have brought positive change. Digital technologies have already taken a quantum leap at the organisational level, and workplaces are not the same. In this regard, the way we work is already experiencing disruptions and sparking new trends.

Working Spaces To Be Reimagined

Digital transformations have enabled employees to work beyond their office desks. The pandemic flattened the barriers to remote working and imitated a structural shift in terms of where the work would take place. There was a time when remote work was a distant dream, but today several employees demand and prefer it owing to its benefits.

According to Buffer's State of Remote Work report, 91 per cent of respondents prioritised remote working, with the biggest benefit being flexibility of work. Therefore, in order to cater to this demand, faster internet services, video conferencing tools, and technologies such as AR and VR are deemed to change the working spaces, enabling WFA (work from anywhere).

Remote Hiring To Bridge Talent Gap

Talent acquisition and retention continue to be major concerns for companies across the globe. The demand for particular next-gen skills is getting harder to meet, which makes hiring more difficult. By 2026, India will require 30 million workers with digital skills, according to a forecast by Teamlease. In this regard, organisations are actively looking for specialised channels to acquire highly trained professionals to address business difficulties in a more dynamic business environment as talent fitment is difficult to achieve. Remote hiring has emerged as a viable solution to bridge this talent gap, enabling organisations to access a wider pool of talent beyond geographical limitations.

Modern talent acquisition and talent-client matchmaking platforms are making it possible to hire talent remotely and address the increasing talent gap, which is particularly relevant in the current scenario where remote work has become the norm. These remote hiring platforms support companies to hire vetted talent for their long-term contractual roles, thus ensuring the availability of the right skills at the right time in a simple, fast, and reliable manner.

Workplace Technology To Be More Accessible

Technology has helped organisations bring scale, simplicity, speed, process efficiencies, and reliability. When it comes to collaborative undertakings, the advent of digital technology has created a world of possibilities for both employers and employees. These solutions allow for interactions not only within the same workplace but also between locations, which can boost efficiency and productivity. Indeed, technology has enabled companies to create a more diverse and inclusive workforce. Online communication tools make everyone more accessible and enable leaders and managers to manage their staff more effectively.

New Realities Of Work

The crisis has caused a fundamental shift in executive mindsets about the role of technology in businesses. Technology will continue to be at the forefront of innovation as organisations accelerate their digitisation processes. Furthermore, the way organisations run, how they engage with stakeholders, and how their employees interact will continue to be shaped by technological advancements.

Thanks to digital technologies, it has already been possible to operate remotely and flexibly, which has benefited several businesses. In addition, collaborations are becoming more successful, and remote communications are getting easier. Furthermore, candidates can now be evaluated for their skills online using digital tools as part of the recruitment process, which has also moved online. The integration of digital technology at the organisations is fetching new realities of work while bridging the talent gap and improving productivity.
