OpenAI has been unveiling a series of new features for ChatGPT in celebration of its “Shipmas” event. One of the most exciting additions is the launch of a new tool called “Projects,” designed to help users better organize and manage their tasks within the ChatGPT interface.

As demonstrated in a video, the new feature will appear in the left sidebar, allowing users to easily customise project titles and icons. Additionally, users can upload files and provide instructions to tailor ChatGPT’s responses for specific tasks, as well as import previous conversations into ongoing projects.

ChatGPT's New Tool: How To Use

To get started with a project, users simply need to click the "+" button next to the "Project" label in ChatGPT and name their project. After clicking "Create Project," the tool will be ready for use. OpenAI has confirmed that Projects will run on the GPT-4o model, although users won't have the option to switch to a different one.

Initially available for Plus, Pro, and Teams users, the feature will be extended to Enterprise and Education users early next year. OpenAI has also promised that free users will get access as soon as possible.
