New Delhi: Battlegrounds Mobile India or BGMI parent Krafton on Thursday unveiled its Esports 2022 Roadmap in India that has four tournaments, cash prizes worth Rs 4 crore, mega prizes, and a host of opportunities for sporting gamers to make a mark for themselves in e-gaming. Registrations for the tournaments will begin at the end of this month. The four tournaments that the South Korean game developer has announced include Battlegrounds Mobile Open Challenge worth Rs 1 crore, Battlegrounds Mobile Pro Series Season 1 worth Rs 2 crore, Battlegrounds Mobile Pro Series Season 2 worth Rs 2 crore and Battlegrounds Mobile India Series worth Rs 1 crore.


"Krafton remains committed to the development of the esports ecosystem in India, and in 2022, we will continue to provide a platform to players across the spectrum, be it pro-level or simply gaming enthusiasts via a range of tournaments and thoughtfully curated experiences," Minu Lee, Head of BGMI, Krafton, said in a statement.


"With more and more talent emerging, and the esports ecosystem growing exponentially in India, we look forward to hosting these tournaments that promise to be intensely competitive and full of nail-biting game moments. We are steadfast to provide a global platform for these players to showcase and harness their skills," Lee added.


According to Krafton, players can start registering for BMOC will begin at the end of February, with in-game qualifiers being held towards the end of March. The South Korean game developer mentioned that in 2021, BGMI had recorded over 600,000 registrations, more than 200 million views and saw over 4,93,000 peak concurrent viewership.


Meanwhile, earlier this month, Krafton banned 2 lakh accounts, in a bid to continue its battle against cheating and illegal activities that affect the gaming environment. The company has been regularly banning accounts that engage in cheating on the platform.
