New Delhi: Aiming to do away with rampant cheating on the platform, South Korea-based game developer and distributor Krafton has pulled as many as 25 lakh accounts on its immensely-popular Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) game. According to the company, fair play will be its priority.
"Cheaters have no place in BGMI and in order to provide a fair gameplay environment to our players, we've been taking severe measures to remove cheaters from the game. Yes, we are aware that many players ran into cheaters even after we made our previous announcement on Sep 30th," BGMI wrote on its page.
"We now have cleaned out most of the cheaters in the game, making BGMI a much more fun experience, and will continue to take whatever step is necessary to keep BGMI fair and fun," the page read.
Between October 1 and November 10, the South Korean game developer has banned 25,19,692 accounts permanently and 7,06,319 temporarily.
According to the company, further and stronger efforts have been put into place to rid BGMI of cheaters.
"Our systems continue to evolve as we bring near real-time ways to detect cheats and ban users employing illegal means. We had initially worked on the model that first offenders will be handed out temporary bans, but as of now, we have shifted all bans to permanent bans. There's no room for second chance now," the company said.
Krafton is monitoring accounts that used or promoted illegal programmes among high-rankers in real-time. If there's any illegal program used found, it is banning them permanently immediately.
Krafton is also monitoring real-time on YouTube for any channels that promote illegal programs, and if found, it is blocking the channels immediately while working in collaboration with YouTube.
"Based on such measures taken, the number of accounts that are being banned have significantly increased compared to before and resulted in the decrease of the number of reports made in the game," the company added.
