Apple Watch has been a life saviour for many and recently it saved the life of a cyclist in New York who met with a horrific accident. Eric Zollinger, a real estate broker, was riding a Citi Bike to his home from his office during a torrential rain. The commute took an unexpected turn when he encountered a hidden pothole submerged beneath floodwater. His bike struck the pothole and he was thrown off the bike onto the pavement.
Despite getting injured seriously on the nose, face and knee, the victim continued to go to his home. Unfortunately, upon reaching his home, he passed out in the bathroom where his body hit the tub
Upon sensing the fall, Apple Watch automatically dialled 911 and alerted the emergency contacts of his location.
911 Call
Zollinger said, ''The next thing I remember hearing is, '911, what's your emergency?'' He then visited a local hospital to get an evaluation. The scans there revealed that he hadn't sustained any broken bones and he was released soon after. He praised the smartwatch for saving his life and said, "I don't know how things would have gone for me if the watch hadn't alerted me."
He added, ''I feel very fortunate and grateful at what transpired and happened in how my Apple Watch helped me. It's a very clever watch. Apple thinks of everything"
Smartwatches have played a vital role in saving numerous lives, as demonstrated by a recent incident in the UK. According to a report by Express UK, Paul Wapham, the CEO of Hockey Wales, recounted how his smartwatch proved crucial in helping him survive a heart attack. During his morning run near his residence in Swansea's Morriston area, he experienced severe chest pain. With the assistance of his smartwatch, Paul was able to quickly inform his wife, who promptly took him to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
In instances where the Apple Watch detects no movement for one minute, it automatically initiates an emergency call and sends your location details to your designated emergency contacts. This feature has proven to be immensely beneficial in critical situations, ensuring prompt assistance is provided to individuals in need.
