Chennai: The police recovered a 4-old-day baby girl stolen from Thanjavur Government Hospital from a woman based on an intense search within 30 hours of the crime. The woman took to doing the crime since she allegedly told her third husband that she was eight months pregnant and stole the baby to prove that she delivered the baby. 


According to a report on DT Next, Rajalaskhmi and Gunasekaran delivered their baby four days ago at Raja Mirasudar GH in Thanjavur and during this time an unidentified woman befriended Rajalakshmi in the maternity ward. On Friday, the woman offered Rajalakshmi to take care of the baby but soon escaped with the baby. 


The hospital immediately informed the police who started tracing the woman with CCTV footage from the hospital. The SP G Ravali Priya  formed three special teams to press into the operation and made her team to investigate the people who were seen talking to the woman. At first, they interrogated an auto driver who revealed that the woman hired him and informed that she was Viji from Pattukottai colony street.

Based on the information, they went to her home and immediately recovered the baby. During the investigation, Viji also confessed that she was divorced twice and did not have children. She then married Balamurugan and reportedly pretended to be pregnant. Around three days ago, she informed Balamurugan that she developed labour pain and was admitted to the GH. There she plotted to pick a baby and since Rajalaskmi did not have any attenders she got the baby from Viji and took the chance to run away with the baby.
