‘When we come to power we will chop off the tongue of the judge who convicted Rahul Gandhi to 2 years imprisonment,” said Congress Dingul district president Manikandan in connection with ‘Modi Surname’ case. He also wondered whose sleeper cell would the judge be for giving a verdict against Rahul Gandhi.
After his controversial speech, Dindigul police registered a case against Manikandan under three sections of the IPC.
According to ANI, Manikandan, Congress Dindigul district president during a protest organised by the party on April 6, 2023 said, "When we come to power, we will chop off the tongue of the judge who delivered the verdict to send our leader Rahul Gandhi to jail,”
Manikandan said: “On March 23, a judge in Surat Court ordered 2 years imprisonment to Rahul Gandhi. When we come to power, once we come to power we will chop off his tongue. Against whom is he going to take action?......Who got us independence? My leader Rahul Gandhi's family and the Congress movement.”
If you are functioning independently then Congress is the reason for it, he said
“If he is giving a verdict against such a leader with a legacy then I wonder whose sleeper cell he is,” he said.
“You are thinking people are silent but they are just observing. The people are getting together. The people will uproot the BJP and send them off the nation,” Manikandan said.
During the speech, the Congress leaders who were near him applauded him for his speech.
Against this backdrop, Dindigul Police told ANI, "We have registered a case against him (Manikandan) under three sections including section 153B of the IPC. An investigation is underway."
