'We Don't Care Anymore': Udhay As I-T Search At DMK MP Jagathrakshakan's Home Continues On Day 2

Income Tax officials also raided Balaji and Rela Hospitals owned by DMK leader Jagathrakshakan.

On the continuance of Income Tax raids for the second consecutive day in the premises linked to DMK MP Jagathrakshakan, Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Friday said that it has become normal nowadays and I-T officials were like guests to DMK. The Income Tax (I-T) Department continued raids for the second consecutive day at premises linked to former Union Minister S Jagathrakshakan across Tamil Nadu on Friday. The raids are continuing even as the MP stays at his residence in Chennai. I-T officials conducted searches also at Balaji and Rela Hospitals owned by the DMK leader.

I-T raided two breweries operating in Devariyambakkam and Elayanarvelur areas of Kanchipuram. The officials are also raiding his cousin Kuppan's house in Wallajabad in Kanchipuram. 

Talking on the raids, Udhayanidhi said, "It is very normal nowadays. They are like guests to us. We don't care about it..."

On Thursday, DMK leader TKS Elangovan slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party and called the raids a "political vendetta". He said that the saffron party is a barbaric class of people, and these people do not respect the Constitution or any law.

TKS Elangovan said, "It is very obvious that it is political vendetta...These people want to terrorize the opposition parties. They are misusing all their powers. They are not fit to rule a country as per law. BJP is a barbaric class of people who do not respect the Constitution or any law - who will do anything for their benefits..."

Jagathrakshakan is an MP from Arakkonam Lok Sabha seat. He served as Minister of State for Commerce and Industry in UPA government under PM Manmohan Singh. 

In June, Enforcement Directed raided the premises linked to Tamil Nadu Minister Senthil Balaji and arrested him in connection with cash-for-jobs scam. Currently, he is lodged in Puzhal Central prison in connection with the protest. 

In September, ED conducted searches on premises linked to a close aide of Minister Senthil Balaji. The raids were carried out mainly in the residences of contractors and suppliers of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) in relation to providing equipment. Senthil Balaji previously held Tamil Nadu EB portfolio.
