Amid fear over the elephant menace in pockets of The Nilgiris, the Forest Department has started to monitor wild elephant moments in Gudalur and Pandalur areas of the district. These areas have also recently reported an increase in the movement of the jumbos. The residential areas of Cherangode, Cherambadi and Athichal have also faced menace due to the wild animals. 

 

According to ANI, Forest officials monitor wild elephants as their movements increase in the Gudalur and Pandalur areas of Nilgiris district. Two of the elephants - Kataikkompan and Rocket - that cause menace in the nearby areas were found to be asleep. Residents of Cherangode, Cherambadi, Athichal and other areas face elephant menace as wild jumbos enter agricultural and residential areas.

 






 


 Tribal Village Bags 3rd Best Tourism Village Award 


A tribal village in The Nilgiris, Ullada, was selected as the third-best Tourism Village in the country. 


According to ANI, Ullada, a tribal village in Nilgiris district, has been selected as the third-best Tourism Village in the country by the Central Government. There are 720 residents in this village. The village's chief and key administrators who went to Delhi on 27th September have returned to their village after receiving the award. The residents of the village welcomed them.
