Chennai: A bus driver attacked a woman passenger after she allegedly questioned him about the delay in operating the bus at a bus depot in Perumbakkam on Wednesday. The passengers who were in the government bus depot immediately gathered at the spot and staged a protest against the high-handedness of the driver.
In a purported video released from the scene, a bus driver and conductor were seen engaged in a heated argument with a woman passenger. When one of them entered into a fistfight with the woman. The woman fell on the ground with another bystander and went to an unconscious state.
The passengers who were nearby immediately started questioning the bus driver and conductor for their high-handedness.

Based on the information, the police reached the spot and held talks with protesting passengers. They assured that legal action would be taken against the drivers.

Following the assurance, the people disbursed from the place.
The tussle between the passengers and the bus drivers, conductors have been ongoing for a while now. Earlier, a bus conductor dropped a woman off a bus in Kanyakumari stating that she "stinks" like a fish. Following the incident, the bus driver Michael and conductor Manikandan were booked for their act.
Later, the Tamil Nadu Deputy Director of Transport apologised to the elderly woman.
Tamil Nadu CM Stalin also tweeted about the incident and said that he was shocked to learn about the incident. He also condemned the attack and said that everyone should be treated equally.
