Chennai: Former AIADMK General Secretary VK Sasikala paid floral tributes at former Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa's memorial near the Marina beach a day before the occasion of AIADMK’s founding day celebrations, on Saturday. Sasikala, who announced that she will stay away from politics in March, however, started taking efforts to join back with AIADMK.

Former AIADMK General Secretary Sasikala started from her home at 10.35 am and first offered prayers at a nearby temple in her home in T Nagar. She then reached Jayalalithaa’s memorial and paid a teary floral tribute to the late leader.

Sasikala also changed her title from "Sacrificing Leader" To "Revolutionary Mother".

The visit of Sasikala to the memorial on Saturday is the first since her return from the Parappana Agrahara Central prison, where she was serving her prison term in a disproportionate assets case. The former AIADMK General Secretary initially planned to visit the memorial immediately after her release from the prison but the then AIADMK government issued orders to close the memorial for maintenance works and COVID-19 norms.
