Chennai: “You (OPS) did everything to make AIADMK non-functional so after all that the letter you sent me is unacceptable,” said Tamil Nadu Opposition leader Edappadi K Palaniswami to AIADMK Treasurer O Panneerselvam on Thursday. The letter by EPS comes after OPS sent a letter regarding the candidature of AIADMK party members for local body bypolls scheduled next month.

In a letter to OPS, Edappadi Palaniswami said, "The amendment made to the bylaw proposing coordinators and co-coordinators of the party was not kept for the approval during the general council meeting. Hence, the letter that you have written as the coordinator of the party is invalid."

"You tried to get stay even for AIADMK general council meeting, you gave a complaint regarding that to Avadi police station, moved High Court and you did everything to make AIADMK unfunctional. However, after all that you are just sending me a letter and it is unacceptable," he said.

The letter of EPS comes after OPS’ letter on Wednesday in which he requested him to send Forms A and B to allow party candidates to contest in two leaves symbol as AIADMK candidates in local body by-polls. However, EPS refused to accept the letter.

Talking to TNIE, N Pasupathi of OPS camp said, OPS wanted the candidates to contest from AIADMK symbol and not as independents but EPS rejected his request.

All the candidates participating in the local body polls should file an authorisation from their parties. In the previous election, EPS and OPS provided the authorisation for contesting in the polls. However, for the current bypolls both of them did not provide the authorisation.

Following this, the candidates requested their leaders to resolve the single leadership issue and provide the authorisation. However, now the candidates can only contest as independents.
