Actor Vijay officially announced the name of his party as 'Thamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam' aka 'TVK Vijay' after formally submitting an application to register the party with the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday. He revealed that the party will contest only in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026 and not in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Vijay also said that his party would not support anyone in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024.














The actor said that would exit the film industry and soon fully immerse himself in electoral politics. He mentioned about completing an already committed movie without it impeding party work and affirmed his full engagement in politics soon for the service of the people.

In the release, Vijay said, "We aim to participate in and emerge victorious in the forthcoming 2026 assembly elections, leading the desired fundamental political change."














"Upon securing the Election Commission's approval, our political journey for the people of Tamil Nadu will commence through public meetings. These gatherings will introduce our party's principles, flag, symbol, and action plans dedicated to the upliftment of the people of Tamil Nadu," he said.


In essence, Vijay said, "Politics is more than just a career; it is my profound passion, not a mere hobby. I am committed to immersing myself fully in it."


"On my behalf, I am going to complete another movie that I have already signed, without letting it interfere with party work, and I am going to fully engage in politics for the people's service and that is my debt of gratitude to the people of Tamil Nadu," he said.
