TN CM Stalin Announces Rs 10 Lakh Ex-Gratia To Family Of Vignesh Who Died In Police Custody
Vignesh Custodial Death: The CM Stalin also assured a fair probe and informed Tamil Nadu Assembly that the three police personnel who interrogated the suspects were suspended in connection with the death.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the family of Vignesh, who died in the custody of police in Chennai. The CM also assured a fair probe and informed Tamil Nadu Assembly that the three police personnel who interrogated the suspects were suspended in connection with the death.
In the Assembly, MK Stalin on Tuesday responding to the attention motion passed by AIADMK regarding the custodial death of Vignesh said, "The DMK is committed in getting punishment for the accused involved in the crime. DMK will also stand with the oppressed and get them justice."
"Hence, as a measure to help the underprivileged family of Vignesh, I order an assistance of Rs 10 lakh. Tamil Nadu will bear the expense for Suresh's treatment," he said.
On April 18, during a vehicle check, police stopped the auto in which Vignesh and his aide were traveling in Chennai. The police then seized ganja in the possession of the duo and took them into custody.

The police also alleged that Vignesh took out a knife and threatened the police due to which they immediately took him to the police station.
However, on April 19, Vignesh who was served with breakfast vomited and suffered from seizures. He was taken to a private hospital and then rushed to KMCH where the doctors declared him as brought dead.

Following this, the police department suspended three police personnel who investigated the duo and also transfered the case to CB-CID for investigation.
