Chennai: Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan promised to soon provide assistance to women family heads in Madurai on Wednesday. The Minister said, once the data of the women heads is clearly available the assistance will be distributed soon.

After inaugurating additional buildings in corporation schools of Madurai, Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan said, "TN CM Stalin has already said that the assistance will soon be provided for women family heads. So just as announced, works are being carried out to distribute the aid soon.”


"In all cases, data is important so once clear data is available then I view that as the first step towards providing the assistance,” he said.

During the run-up to Tamil Nadu Assembly elections in March 2022, MK Stalin in a public rally said, once DMK government comes to power we will provide Rs 1,000 'rights' assistance every month for all women family heads in Tamil Nadu. The women will be given benefits through Public Distribution Outlets. 


The announcement of DMK came after MNM said that the party will pay women for their work at home to improve the economy of the nation. The AIADMK also promised to provide assistance for women family heads if they come to power.

In February 2022, the CM once again reiterated that the government will definitely provide Rs 1,000 monthly aid to women heads and will not cheat anyone.
