Chennai: The schools and colleges are set to remain closed in Virudhunagar on Tuesday due to the continuous rainfall in the district. On Tuesday, the Thoothukudi Collector also announced a rain holiday for schools in the district.


According to Virudhunagar Collector, "In view of continuous rain across the district, we announce Holiday for schools and colleges today 29.11.2022 in Virudhunagar district. Avoid Outdoors. Stay Indoors. Stay Safe @VNRCollector"



 



The Thoothukudi Collector also said, “Owing to rain and forecast, today alone (29.11.22) all schools will remain closed.” 


Theni district administration too announced holiday for schools.

On Friday, IMD said, rainfall occurred at a few places over South Tamilnadu and at one or two places over North of Tamilnadu. It also said that very light rain occurred over Karaikal area while dry weather prevailed over Puducherry.


The highest rainfall of 12 cm was received in Kodivery of Erode district followed by PWD Makkinampatti of Coimbatore with 12 cm and Kunderipallam of Erode with 8 cm.


On the predictions, IMD said, “Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal area.”

Meanwhile, IMD said, Chennai is likely to remain cloudy and light/moderate rain is likely to occur in some areas for the next two days.  


Parts of Tamil Nadu received heavy to very heavy rainfall in the early weeks of November. As a result, schools and colleges were closed in multiple districts.
