Chennai: The Chennai city police arrested two persons for kidnapping a Class 10 girl for a ransom of Rs 10 lakh on Thursday. Two persons including the girl’s relative kidnapped her since they were in dire need to settle some borrowed money.
According to a report on Times of India, the arrested were identified as Moshina Parveen and Ijaz Ahmed.
According to the police, the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh but they later settled for Rs 2 lakh. The kidnappers then told the family to come near Vadapalani and released the girl near a hospital at around 4.30 pm once they got the agreed sum. The family members soon rescued the girl.
In the same time, a team led by Nungambbakam Assitant Commissioner of Police Ravi Abiram immediately rushed and nabbed the abductors.
The police said, Moshina Parveen decided to kidnap her niece's daughter Asifa from her school in Nungabakkam since she was in need of money.

She then came in touch with Ijaz Ahmed, a hardware shop owner in Kodambakkam, to help her.
On Wednesday, when the girl was waiting for her van Parveen abducted Asifa with a promise to drop her home. Later, Parveen took her to Ampa Skywalk in Choolaimedu.
In the same time, the van driver searched for Asifa and informed the school and alerted her parents.
Within hours, Asifa's mother Mohammed Meeran Lebbai received a ransom call with a demand for Rs 10 lakh. She then disconnected the call.
Meeran Lebbai approached the police and filed a complaint.
