Chennai: A judicial magistrate was stabbed by his assistant in a chamber of a court complex in Salem on Tuesday. The judicial magistrate who suffered severe injuries is currently receiving treatment at Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital.


According to a report on IANS, the judicial magistrate Muthupandi was in his chamber when his assistant reportedly stabbed him multiple times. Soon Muthupandi started to cry out in pain and his colleagues rushed for help. 


The advocates and policemen saw Muthupandi profusely bleeding and his assistant Prakash standing with a knife.

Muthupandi was immediately rushed to the hospital. According to the doctors, Muthupandi had three stab injuries including a deep stab near his heart and lungs. 


Meanwhile, the police registered a case against Prakash and started the preliminary investigation. In the probe, Prakash said that he was transferred to the Salem court from Omalur court recently. On Monday, he joined duty in Salem court and reportedly sought a transfer back to Omalur Court.

However, the judicial magistrate reportedly told him to approach the principal district judge. Prakash irked by this attacked Muthupandi with a knife. 


Prakash has been arrested and lodged in prison.


Earlier, a TRS member attacked a lawyer associated with BJP in Hyderabad court due to personal rivalry. The TRS member was later identified as advocate Mekala Srinivas Yadav. The advocate is also an aide of Malkajgiri MLA Mynampally Hanumanth Rao.
