Chennai: The cybercrime wing police arrested a 39-year-old man for allegedly making inflammatory comments against Dravidian leaders on a Youtube channel on Monday. The man spoke to the YouTube channel along with residents of West Mambalam they were asked about their opinion over the victory of BJP candidate Uma who won the polls from the ward. 


The man identified as Eswara Chandra Subramanian of Ashok Nagar reportedly said that he would applaud Nathuram Godse, who killed Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi, if they had killed any Dravidian leader, reported Times of India.

Based on the video, Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam Kancheepuram office-bearer Kannadasan gave a complaint to the police against Subramanian. Following this, police arrested Subramanian and he was produced before the magistrate. Later, he was remanded to judicial custody. 


However, during the probe, Subramanian told investigators that the youtube channel received the statement with a promise to not telecast it.

Earlier, the lone winner from BJP in Chennai Uma Anandhan while campaigning for the polls created a stir by extending her support to Godse. In an interview for a YouTube channel, Anandhan said, Godse, who shot Gandhi, was a Hindu and that is why it's proud. 


"I'm a supporter of Godse," Anandhan said. Anandhan won in the recently concluded Urban Local Body polls from Ward 134 of West Mambalam by defeating a Congress candidate by a margin of 2,036 votes.
