Chennai: A 5-year-old died due to starvation and his corpse was found on a pushcart in Meltheru of Villupuram on Sunday. The Villupuram SP said that the autopsy report revealed that there was no trace of food in the intestine of the kid and it showed that the kid might have last had food at least two days prior to his death.

According to a report on ABP Nadu, a resident Sivaguru was running a pushcart shop for more than 20 years and every day he used to park his cart on the roadside. Just like his usual routine he parked his cart on the roadside and left for his home on Saturday.

However, on Sunday, when he returned to work he was shocked to see a 5-year-old boy dead on the cart. Sivaguru along with the passersby tried to wake up the child but all efforts went in vain

The public immediately alerted the police who reached the spot and sent the body of the child for autopsy. The police also looked out for the child's home and tried to trace out his parents. They showed the boy's image to all the members in the area.

Following this, the SP Shreenatha formed four special teams to trace the parents of the child. They also tried to contact Anganwadis nearby since the child was found with the uniform of a government school.

Later, SP Shreenatha on receiving the autopsy report said, the post-mortem report suggests that the kid was not murdered nor did he suffer any injuries. The autopsy found that there was no trace of food in the intestine of the kid and it would have at least been two days since the kid had food. Hence, the autopsy concluded that the kid died of starvation, the report said.
