Chennai: A 16-year-old girl who lost her parents and was residing with her aunt was sexually assaulted multiple times in the past 7 months by various men with the abatement of her aunt in Gingee. Based on the complaint of Childline, the Gingee All Women Police Station arrested nine persons including a 77-year-old man in connection with the crime. 


According to a report on The Hindu, the incident came to light when the aunt took the girl to a government hospital for a check-up when the girl was found to be four months pregnant.

The police told The Hindu, the girl's parents died and the girl moved along with her aunt for attending Class 11 in the district. In the past 11 months, the girl alleged that she was sexually-assaulted multiple-times by several persons. 


Following this, the Gingee All Women Police Station personnel arrested nine persons including the girl's cousin and the aunt. During the interrogation, the police found that the aunt abetted the crime.


The arrested were identified as Mannankatti, Ilayaraja, Venkatesan, Prabhu, Babu, Ezhumalai, Satyaraj, the girl’s cousin and aunt. The police are also investigating further to know more details of the crime and about the accused.

The police registered a case under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The girl has been sent to a home in Villupuram.
