Chennai: A 17-year-old girl strangled her mother to death with the help of her aides to escape flesh trade in Thoothukudi district on Saturday. The police said, the minor took extreme steps after her mother allegedly tried to force her into the flesh trade for quick money.
According to a report on News 18, the deceased identified as Muniyalakshmi from Thoothukudi was a sanitation worker and she was living alone with her three children after seperating from her husband.
Her elder daughter who was aged 17 years dropped out of diploma course recently. From then, the mother and daughter had frequent altercations over issues including her decision to quit the course.

On Saturday, however, the girl contacted the police and said that miscreants murdered her mother. Following this, the police arrived at the spot and sent the body to Thoothukudi GH for post-mortem.
In this backdrop, the police started the probe and questioned the girl since she was the first person who saw her mother dead. Initially, the minor denied any role in the mother's death.

Yet an intensive probe revealed that she murdered her mother since she was allegedly forced into taking up prostitution.
The police based on the statement of the girl arrested her along with her male friend Kannan. They are on the lookout for the remaining two accused who helped the girl with the murder. The arrested minor girl would also be sent to a correctional home.
