Tamil Nadu Minister Senthil Balaji, who has been lodged in Puzhal prison on Monday, has been credited as 'A' class prisoner status. In 'A' class, the Minister is likely to get a separate room, a cot, mosquito net and mattress. The Minister will also get a revised food plan. After the Minister was lodged in the prison, the prison department modified the proposed diet pattern for 'A' class prisoners in Tamil Nadu. 


Sources in the prison told IANS that the health of the minister was being monitored by Prison doctors. The officials also kept tab on the food provided to the Minister.


As per the updated diet list, according to ABP Nadu, the 'A' class prisoners will be provided tea at 6:30 AM. For breakfast, the prisoners will be provided one item wheat upma, pongal, ragi upma, tomato rice, lemon rice, idly or pudina rice each day. 


For meals, the prisoners will be provided non-vegetarian on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. The non-veg meal includes rice, rasam, chicken curry and curd. The veg meals provided on all days will include veg curry, kaara kuzhambu, sambar and rasam. The snacks will be tea and sundal. 


Dinner will include rice, sambar and chapati.


The Enforcement Directorate raided the residence of Minister Senthil Balaji on June 13. He was arrested by ED at 1.38 PM. However, after the arrest, the Minister complained of chest pain. He was taken to Omandurar Government Hospital. 


After the Minister was advised a surgery, Senthil Balaji was sent to Kauvery Hospital. At the hospital, Balaji underwent coronary bypass surgery on June 21.


V Senthil Balaji was shifted to the Puzhal Central Prison on Monday. The Minister was taken in a government '108 ambulance' from the hospital to the Puzhal prison amid police security.
