Earlier, there have been many disagreements from both states on the Mekedatu dam project issue. Tamil Nadu has been standing tall in denial of the dam construction as the Tamil farmers might face severe drought issues but Yeddiyurappa's government in Karnataka is hell-bent that the project is going to start as soon as possible. Both the states are awaiting Centre's decision. Also, the leaders from both states have met Prime Minister Modi and other senior BJP leaders to make beneficial decisions respective to their state on this issue.
