Chennai: A 78-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his son in Chennai and his chopped body parts were buried in Ranipet district. The Valasaravakkam police who cracked the case also told Ranipet police to exhume the body parts of the deceased father.

According to a report on The New Indian Express, T Kumaresan was a retired Central government employee who lived in Thandavamoothy Nagar of Valasaravakkam.

In 2019, Kumaresan's wife passed away and he started to reside with his widowed daughter Kanchana Mala on the second floor of his house. His son was residing on the first floor of the same building.

On May 15, Kanchana Mala went to visit the family of his deceased husband and returned home on Thursday. However, she found her house locked and her father was missing. Hence, she called his brother Gunasekaran but he denied any knowledge of the whereabouts of their father.

Hence, both of them decided to search for him. Around 8 pm on Thursday, Gunasekaran went to Shivan temple to look for his father but later he switched off his phone.

Mala suspecting a foul play broke open the home and was shocked to find out blood stains on the floor. She also felt a foul smell in the room.

Hence, she filed a missing person complaint with Valasaravakkam police.

When police started questioning Gunasekaran's wife she said that he went to visit his friend Venkatesan in Ranipet.

The police said, Gunasekaran went to Ranipet by informing his friend Venkatesan that he was coming to fix a piece of land for starting up his tile business.

He reportedly arrived in a minivan and brought a plastic barrel. He also told his friend that he should bury certain items on the land to make it auspicious and once they reached the place he told Venkatesan to leave.

Later, using the help of the locals, he had dug a pit and buried the barrel, said the police.

However, Gunasekaran is absconding.
