Tamil Nadu Man Buys Car Worth Rs 6 Lakh With Transaction In Rs 10 Coins To Prove It A Legal Tender

Vetrivel said, even the car dealer initially refused to accept the coins but he was determined which later made them accept the coins.

Chennai: A man from Tamil Nadu purchased a car worth Rs 6 lakh using only Rs 10 coins in order to create awareness over the validity of the coin and to emphasize giving importance to all legal tenders. He arrived at the decision while he saw children near his home playing with Rs 10 coins by claiming that they were plain metal and even their parents reportedly believed the same.

The man Vetrivel from Dharmapuri talking to Economic Times said that his mother was running a small shop in Arur of the district and no one was ready to get accept Rs 10 coins from here in the village. Hence, a huge collection of Rs 10 coins got accumulated and even banks refused to accept them. 

Therefore, he said that he decided to prove that it is a legal tender. 

Vetrivel, a doctor by profession, then took time to collect the coins and later decided to purchase the car. However, even the dealer refused to accept the coins, he said.

However, after his determination, the company finally accepted to get the coins and helped him drive back Maruti Eco home.

Earlier, Bhoopati, a resident of Salem, bought his dream bike a Bajaj Dominor 400 with Re 1 coins. He bought the bike after taking three years to collect the Re 1 coins and took the bike home by paying Rs 2.6 lakh to the showroom.
