Chennai: A tea shop owner who was angered by his daughter marrying a Dalit man murdered his wife and two daughters with a grinding stone before killing himself in Nagapattinam. The man's first daughter eloped and married a SC man with whom she was in a relationship in November. 


According to a report on The New Indian Express, the tea shop owner did not open the tea shop on Friday and his neighbour who found out that the shop was closed went to check on him at his house. However, around 7 am, he was shocked to find out the family member lying dead in a pool of blood on Friday. 


The police soon sent the bodies of the deceased persons to Nagapattinam Government General Hospital for post-mortem and started the investigation. 


The police said, K Lakshmanan married Bhuvaneswari and the couple was running a tea shop near their house. The couple had three daughters Thanalakshmi (21), Vinothini (18) and Akshaya (15) and the elder daughter was in a relationship with Vimalraj (22), who was from a Scheduled Caste community.

In November, the young couple eloped and married against the wishes of Lakshmanan and started to reside in another part of the village.


However, on Thursday night, Lakshmanan reportedly killed his wife and two daughters with a grinding stone and then ended his life. 


The Kilvelur police registered a case under Section 302 (Murder) of IPC and Section 174 of CrPC for the suicide of Lakshmanan. The incident has caused tension in Puthucheri.
