"Since assuming office as the Governor of Tamil Nadu on September 18, 2021, RN Ravi has consistently engaged in actions that seem geared towards creating political upheaval in the state," he said.
The MLA said that the Governor's actions prompted widespread calls from Tamil Nadu's political parties for his replacement. "When addressing audiences in various programs, Governor RN Ravi's speeches often present historical perspectives from the viewpoint of the BJP, leading to controversy on multiple occasions," he said.
Selvaperunthagai said: "The Governor should read the real history. However, the Governor is functioning like a mouthpiece of BJP and RSS. Citing these, we are boycotting the high-tea party organised by Governor."
The statement has come at a time when Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi stirred controversy on Tuesday by alleging that freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose played a more significant role than Mahatma Gandhi in India's freedom from British rule.
"I would say that if Netaji was not there, then India would not have become free in 1947 because the non-cooperation movement of the Indian National Congress fizzled out while the national freedom movement led by Mahatma Gandhi after 1942 was a non-event," the Governor said at the event.
