Chennai:  Five men including an AIADMK functionary surrendered before Chengalpet magistrate court for the murder of a DMK man, on Monday. A DMK member in a broad daylight in public view at Broadway bus stand on Sunday.


According to a report on Times of India, the five members who surrendered on Monday were identified as S Ganesh, his son Dineshkumar, hired persons A Inbam, Karthik Ganapathy and A Kumaresan from Vyasarpadi.


Initially, S Ganesh and the deceased Soundararajan were with AIADMK but later Soundararajan switched his loyalty to DMK after TN Assembly elections 2021. The switch also led to a strain in their relationship.

Further, Ganesh and Soundararajan started having tiff over minor issues but it turned into an enmity after Soundararajan occupied a wall for drawing graffiti near a bus stand which was chosen by AIADMK functionaries. 


Later, another fight broke out when Soundararajan set up a water stall for public in the place chosen by AIADMK.

Angered by the events, on Sunday, a gang of people including Ganesh, his son and hired goons surrounded Soundararajan near summer water stall and hacked him to death. The victim suffered 12 deep stab wounds on face, neck and body.


After the murder, Elephant Gate police registered a case and arrested 10 suspects for interrogating about the murder case.


Soundararajan was a DMK functionary and he was running a juice shop near the bus stand. He is also the fourth DMK worker to be murdered in the last 32 days, said a report on New Indian Express.
