Tami Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin is set a fly to Japan and Singapore on May 23 to attract investments and invite industrialists to take part in the Global Investors meet to be held in Chennai on January 10 and 11, 2024.


On Tuesday, Stalin made the announcement after laying the foundation stone for Japanese major Mitsubishi's new AC plant in Chennai.

Addressing reporters, Stalin said that he would be inviting Japanese companies to the investment meeting to be held in Tamil Nadu in January 2024. He added that his trip to Japan will strengthen the India-Japan friendship, as per IANS.






Tamil Nadu Industries Minister, Thangam Thenarasu; Kazhuhiko Tamura, MD Mitsubishi Electric India; Yasumichi Tazunoki, Group President Mitsubishi and Consul General of Japan in Chennai, Masayuki Taga were present during the event.


According to Deccan Herald, Stalin will visit Singapore for 2 days and then fly to Japan to spend the remaining 7 days. In both countries, he is expected to meet industrialists and hold talks with them. Apart from the talks, Stalin is also expected to sign MOUs during the trip. Stalin is also scheduled to attend road shows to attract investors. Stalin will also be meeting Tamil diaspora in both the countries.


After the nine-day trip, Stalin is expected to return on May 31. This will be Stalin's second official foreign trip after assuming office in May 2021. Earlier, Stalin visited United Arab Emirates which garnered investments worth Rs 6,100 crore.


The visit of Stalin to woo investors comes after his ambitious target of making Tamil Nadu a $1 trillion dollar economy by 2030.
