Chennai: TN Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday announced that all the cases filed against peaceful protesters during the previous AIADMK rule would be withdrawn. The cases of people who protested will be withdrawn against proposals such as the Theni Neutrino project, Kudankulam nuclear plant, Salem-Chennai Expressway, the three farm laws, Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), and those cases booked against media houses. Stalin also confirmed that cases already booked against protesters in connection with Vedanta’s Sterlite unit in Thoothukudi have been withdrawn.


The CM further said that stern action will be taken after thoroughly going through the cases filed in the AIADMK regime. He also announced in the state Assembly that the government is setting sights on providing employment to 22,000 people by setting up new industries in the Northern part of the state. Employment for the youngsters would be a strong pillar for the development and hence in the first phase, starting new industries in the backward regions of the state.

Speaking about the handling of the pandemic, Stalin said, “There should not be a third wave of the virus, but if it was to emerge, the government is prepared to tackle it.” Since the DMK government took charge, 65 lakh vaccines have been administered, he said.


On Thursday, Stalin took the opposition AIADMK government by storm as he taunted that the previous government couldn't handle the first wave and couldn't contain the spread of the virus in the second wave from February to April. He went on to demand the AIADMK to take responsibility for it.
