Chennai Central crime branch on Sunday booked BJP Tamil Nadu President and former IPS K Annamalai for spreading rumours about the migrant worker's issue and inciting violence among the people. CCB Cyber Crime Division has booked Annamalai under sections 153, 153A(1)(a), 505(1)(b), and 505(1)(c).
"A case in CCB Cyber Crime Division u/s 153, 153A(1)(a),505(1)(b) IPC 505(1)(c) IPC registered against BJP State President Annamalai for inciting violence and promoting enmity between two groups," said Chennai Police as quoted by news agency ANI.
Annamalai Attacks Ruling DMK
After being booked, Annamalai attacked the DMK and challenged the ruling government in Tamil Nadu to arrest him. "I understand DMK has filed cases against me for exposing their seven-decade propaganda against the North Indian brothers. So, here is the video of what they spoke which was mentioned in my press release yesterday. I challenge Fascist DMK to arrest me," he tweeted.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu police and the district administration on Monday conducted a meeting with representatives of business and industry associations and migrant workers over the issue of alleged attacks on migrants.
"Today, we have a meeting with a high-level committee on the migrant labourers' issue. Fake news is being spread on social media by some people. There are good relations between local and migrant labourers," said KM Subramanian, Tiruppur Exporters' Association as quoted by ANI.
