New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government brought out the bulldozers on Sunday to demolish the property belonging to a member of the Mukhtar Ansari gang. Property belonging to Kamlesh Sigh ‘Pradhan’ was razed by the local administration in Ghazipur

The police were at the spot as the property was being bulldozed.

This comes a day after a two-storey house in Mau district belonging to the sons of jailed gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari was demolished as the map of the building was not approved by the authorities, as per news agency PTI.

Circle Officer Abhay Singh said the demolition of the house, owned by Abbas and Umar Ansari, began on Friday on orders from the district magistrate. It was completed a day later.

"The land on which the house of Abbas and Umar Ansari was built belongs to someone else. Apart from this, the map of the house was also not passed by the authorities," the official said, as quoted by PTI.

The building was located in the Jahangirabad locality under the Dakhin Tola police station area of the city.

Abbas Ansari, an MLA of the Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP) from Mau, has been in prison for the last three months in a money laundering case. He is currently lodged in the Kasganj district prison.

Last month, Superintendent Ashok Kumar Sagar and jailor Santosh Kumar of Chitrakoot Jail Chandrakala were arrested after jailed MLA Abbas Ansari’s wife Nikhat Bano met her husband in the deputy jailor’s room. The arrested jail officials are accused of aiding the unauthorised meeting of Ansari and his wife.

Many mobile phones and other material, including foreign currency, were found in possession of Nikhat. Both Nikhat and Abbas Ansari’s driver Niyaz were arrested on February 11 and taken on remand by police on February 17.
