Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief K Annamalai has accused DMK leader and CM MK Stalin's son Udhayanidhi Stalin of peddling a “bought-out idea from Christian missionaries” after Stalin's controversial remarks on 'Sanatan Dharma'. Notably, Udhayanidhi likened ‘Sanatan Dharma’ with “mosquitoes, dengue, fever, malaria and corona” stating that it should be eradicated. Reacting to it, the Tamil Nadu BJP chief slammed the entire Stalin family alleging that their only resolve was to accumulate wealth beyond the state GDP.

Annamalai took to his official handle on X (formerly Twitter) to post, “The only resolve that the Gopalapuram Family has is to accumulate wealth beyond the State GDP. Thiru Udhayanidhi, you, your father, or his or your idealogue have a bought-out idea from Christian missionaries & the idea of those missionaries was to cultivate dimwits like you to parrot their malicious ideology”.

He further added that Tamil Nadu was “a land of spiritualism”. “The best you can do is to hold a Mic in an event like this & rant out your frustration!”

During a conference in Chennai on Saturday, the minister for Sports and Youth Affairs railed against Sanatan Dharma and said, "Few things cannot be opposed, they should only be abolished. We can't oppose Dengue, mosquitoes, Malaria, or Corona, we have to eradicate them. In the same way, we have to eradicate Sanatana (Sanatan Dharma). Rather than merely opposing Sanatana, it should be eradicated."

Hindu Mahasabha President Swami Chakrapani also reacted to Udhayanidhi Stalin’s remark and said that the I.N.D.I.A alliance should be fighting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi however, instead, they are fighting with 'Sanatana Dharma’.

“‘Sanatana Dharma' has existed for centuries and will remain so. The people connected with the INDIA alliance are not fighting with PM Modi, they are fighting with 'Sanatana Dharma'. Their objective is to finish 'Sanatana Dharma'...We never target Stalin ideology or comment on Christianity or Islam, then why are they targeting 'Hindu Sanatana'...?”

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that reality of some of the people from Tamil Nadu has come out.

"...Just a few days ago, we organised Kashi Tamil Sangamam and Lord Vishwanath is commemorated in every village in Tamil Nadu...'Sanatana' is eternal, nothing is going to happen with these political remarks..," he added.

However, the Maharashtra Congress Chief Nana Patole said that it wasn’t in the party’s hands to control what people say but Congress stands clear, it doesn’t want to comment on any religion or hurt anybody’s sentiments.

"The Congress follows Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Sarva Dharma Sambhava which he gave us in the Constitution," he said.
