Chennai: Tension prevailed in Vadalur of Cuddalore district for the fourth consecutive day after residents of Vadalur forced RSS cadre who were conducting a shakha training on a stadium near Vallalar Nilaiyam to leave the place by stating that it was the land of Tamil Saint Vallalar. Following the incident, an agitated BJP cadre conducted a yoga practice camp in the same stadium on Thursday.
Initially, an RSS shakha was held at a ground near Thiru Arutpragaasa Vallalaar Dheiva Nilayam, a place of worship for Tamil saint Valalar. The RSS cadre from Neyveli, Panruti and Kadampuliyur gathered at the stadium and practiced a martial art form 'Silambam'.
However, the residents said that the cadre also reportedly took religious oaths and spoke about religious preaching.
The people who were visiting the temple and passersby near the ground, however, got angered by slogans and started an argument with the RSS cadre.

Further, the residents said that it was the land of Vallalar and there was no place for divisive forces. They also told RSS cadre to leave the place.
In a video of the incident, the residents were seen arguing with RSS members. The residents said, “Stop conducting shakas here. It’s the land of Vallalar.”
However, the RSS cadre got into an argument and refused to leave the place.
Based on the information, Vadalur police reached the spot and held talks with both groups. Later, they convinced RSS cadre to leave the place.
On Thursday, BJP cadre as an opposition to forcing the RSS cadre out of the ground organised yoga and Surya namaskar practice camps on the same ground.
The two incidents have led to tension in the region.
