Chennai: The helicopter in which 'Art of Living' founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was travelling to Tiruppur made an emergency landing at Sathyamangalam due to inclement weather on Wednesday. The helicopter took off 50 minutes after the emergency landing.
According to ANI, “Tamil Nadu | A helicopter carrying Art of Living's Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and four others made an emergency landing due to bad weather at Sathyamangalam in Erode today morning. All passengers are safe. The helicopter took off after 50 minutes once the weather cleared.”
The chopper, reportedly flying from Bengaluru made landing in Sathyamangalam this morning due to foggy conditions, officials said.
The helicopter later proceeded to its destination after a brief halt, they said.
However, the villagers gathered at the site.
In a statement, the Art of Living foundation said that Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was traveling to Sri Brihannayaki Ambika Sametha Sri Andhra Kapaleeshwarar Swamy Temple in Tiruppur district for Kumbhabhishekham. However, the pilot decided to make an emergency landing due to adverse weather conditions at Uginiyam.
After the temporary halt, Gurudev started and reached the venue. Later, he also left for his next engagement, said a report on NDTV.
On January 8, 2022, a helicopter with four persons made an emergency landing on a farm in Athiyur village in Kadambur. The helicopter from Karnataka travelling to Kochi in Kerala made a sudden landing due to bad weather. However, the chopper resumed its journey after two and a half hours.
