Chennai: Tamil Nadu Police’s special team constituted to investigate the Kodanad murder cum heist case has rushed to Nepal to trace and question the watchman, Krishna Bahadur, who was present during the murder of his colleague Om Bahadur. 


The murder cum heist at Kodanand estate in Nilgiris took place on April 24, 2017. During the incident, while a security guard Om Bahadur was killed, his colleague Krishna Bahadur was grievously injured. Following the interrogation, Krishna Bahadur was allowed to leave the country to his home in Nepal. Since then, he has remained untraceable, according to a report in IANS. 


The report said that a special team constituted by the Nilgiris district police, rushed to Nepal on Thursday.

Pointing out that DMK in its state assembly election manifesto had promised to reopen the case for further investigation, the report said that the case had become a major issue between DMK and AIADMK once the ruling party started taking efforts to reinvestigate the case. 


Meanwhile, a trial court has directed the Nilgiris police to reinvestigate the case and submit its report before the court for hearing on October 1. The Supreme court had also rejected an appeal seeking stay order on further investigation on the case, according to the report. 


The report further said that the accused - KP Sayan and Valayar Manoj - in a 16 minutes video documentary film shot by journalist Mathew Samuel said that the robbery was conducted at the behest of the then chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.
