Chennai: After several months of break from the speculation over his political plunge, Superstar Rajinikanth yet again took the center stage of a political debate on Monday after he met Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi at Raj Bhavan in Chennai. After the meeting, Rajinikanth said that he discussed politics with the Governor but he does not have any intention to join politics. 


On Monday, Rajinikanth met the Governor for a brief 30 minutes at Raj Bhavan. After the meeting, Rajinikanth interacting with the press at his Poes Garden residence said, "The Governor spent his time mostly in the North of India and he came to Tamil Nadu only recently but he likes the state very much. He likes the honesty, hard work, and truthfulness of the people of the state. He likes the spiritualism of the people of Tamil Nadu."


Further, Rajinikanth said they discussed politics but he cannot reveal the details of the meeting to the press. Rajinikanth also added that he does not have any intention to join politics again in the future, according to a report on Indian Express.

To a question on the GST on milk, curd, and other essential items, he said, “no comment”, as per a report on IANS.


On the work front, the celebrity said that the shoot for his next movie "Jailor" will start on August 15 or August 25. 


The meeting of Rajinikanth with the Governor had come at a time when the speculations were rife that the superstar went to New Delhi on Saturday to meet political leaders. However, there was no official confirmation on it.


In 2017, Rajinikanth first said that he will float a political party and contest in Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2021. He also started to discuss politics with the members of Rajini Makkal Mandram, a fan club of the actor.


However, Rajinikanth in December 2020 said that he will not start a political party since his health scare came as a 'warning from God' against his decision.
