Tamil Nadu: 11-Yr-Old Boy Shot By Stray Bullet Still Critical, Case Slapped Against CISF & Police Personnel

On December 30, an 11-year-old boy identified as Pugazhendhi was playing near his grandfather's home when a stray bullet suddenly hit him on his head.

Chennai: The health condition of an 11-year-old boy, who was hit by a stray bullet on his head during a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) training session, continues to be critical even as he is receiving treatment at Thanjavur Medical College Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Revenue Division Officer (RDO), who was trusted with the inquiry, started the questioning with the CISF and Tamil Nadu police.

According to a report on Times of India, the RDO started an inquiry with the CISF and Tamil Nadu police who were receiving training at the facility in Pudukottai. The Iluppur RDO Balathandayuthapani also interrogated the deputy commandant and inspector of CISF on Friday.

Based on the inquiry, the police have registered a case against the CISF and police personnel under sections including negligent use of explosives and endangering human life by the negligent act under sections of the Indian Penal Code. 

The Pudukottai SP Nisha Partiban said both personnel has been named in the FIR since 18 personnel from TN police were receiving training in the site for all India shooting tournament. 

Meanwhile, the boy who underwent successful brain surgery is still under critical condition in the Neurology ICU of the Government Hospital.

On December 30, an 11-year-old boy identified as Pugazhendhi was playing near his grandfather's home when he was suddenly hit by a bullet on his head. Another bullet pierced through the wall of his grandfather's home. 

However, soon after the incident, the CISF personnel and police rushed him to Pudukottai hospital who later referred them to Thanjavur Medical College Hospital.
