Chennai: A month after passing resolution against three farm laws in Tamil Nadu Assembly, Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday condemned inhumane act against protesting farmers at Lakhimpur Kheri and demanded a high-level investigation into the violence.


Taking to Twitter, the CM said, "Opposition leaders including Priyanka Gandhi who tried to meet the farmers are detained. They shall be freed and allowed to exercise their democratic rights."

"The Union Govt can no more remain apathetic to the concerns of the farmers and let these untoward incidents to continue. It must realise that repealing three farm laws in toto is the only way to restore normalcy and peace," he further tweeted.






Earlier on August 28, the DMK government along with the PMK, the Congress, the VCK, the MDMK, the MMK and the legislators of left supported the motion to vote for the resolution against the three contentious farm laws. Before the resolution was put to vote, the AIADMK and BJP leaders staged a walk out.
