Chennai: Tamil Nadu police freeze movable and immovable properties of 35 peddlers involved in four important weed smuggling cases in Ramanathapuram, Theni and Madurai districts. The police have also instructed districts to form teams to address issues concerning the banned substance on school premises. 


According to ANI, South zone IG Asra Garg said, “After conducting a detailed financial investigation in 4 important cases of weed, we've frozen moveable & immovable properties in Ramnad, Theni & Madurai district. Freezing orders passed for 35 peddlers.”

“To address this issue with school or college students, govt has asked each district to form a team to attend calls related to such complaints from school-college premises. Prompt action will be taken on such information,” he said.





On Monday, TN CM also held a meeting with police to put an end to drug smuggling in the state.

In August, TN CM Stalin instructed collectors and police officers to attach the properties of drug peddlers. 


Earlier, district administrations in Tamil Nadu made students of government schools to take an anti-drug oath. Around 11,500 students took part in the oath-taking ceremony at Anna Stadium in Trichy and 5,000 students took part in the event in Thanjavur. 


Tamil Nadu Minister KN Nehru took part in the event at Anna Stadium along with district collector M Pradeep Kumar. Later, he held a meeting to discuss on ways to curb the drug menace in the districts.

In August, Tamil Nadu police also arrested 2,423 drug peddlers across the state. The state police made the arrest under the name Ganja Vettai 2.0 and they also seized 3,562 kg of Ganja.
