Chennai: One person was killed while two others suffered injuries after an explosion at an illegal firecracker unit run from a house at Nalliveeranpatti in Madurai district on Tuesday. The illegal unit was run by a person identified as Pravin without receiving the permission of the officials.
According to a report on ANI, Pravin was running a cracker unit in a room at the top of his residential building without informing the district officials. On Tuesday, while all the workers were involved in making firecrackers, one of the crackers suddenly exploded due to friction. The worker who was near the cracker died on the spot. However, two other members who were working with him were rushed to Madurai Government Hospital.

The top roof of the building also got damaged in the impact of the blast.
Madurai District Collector Aneesh Sekhar talking to ANI said, one person was killed while two others suffered injuries due to the explosion at the illegal firecracker making unit in Madurai. A probe has been started into the incident.
The police have booked a case and have started the investigation. The police also await more details from the witnesses.
In 2022, four persons were killed while eight others suffered injured at a firecracker manufacturing unit near Sivakasi on the New Year's Day on January 1. Five days later, five other persons were killed in an explosion that took place at Sri Solai Fireworks in Manjalodaipatti. In the impact three persons suffered grevious injuries.
